WAWTX AT A GLANCE

Everyone deserves to make a living, regardless of the barriers they face.

Work Again West Texas is a program to help provide jobs for our neighbors experiencing the barrier of homelessness and connect them to other resources they need to improve their quality of life.

Through Work Again West Texas, participants work part-time jobs cleaning and beautifying streets and alleyways throughout Abilene.

When our neighbors have a source of income and proven work experience on their resumes, we believe they have a greater chance of landing full-time jobs in our local communities.

Together, we can help our neighbors find work again.

HOW IT WORKS

Work Again West Texas is governed by an advisory board and is operationally powered through a partnership with Goodwill-West Texas.

Workers are employed on a first-come-first-serve basis. The Program Coordinator operates the shift on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and drives them to their daily work site.

The City of Abilene partners with Work Again West Texas by recommending streets and alleyways in need of cleaning. Work Again West Texas aims to help participants transition into sustainable employment through job readiness training at the Goodwill Career Center. Helping our neighbors while also providing a potential workforce for local businesses.

The program launched April 25th 2019!  If you’d like to support this program, donate here.
